Poetry: Lovers’ Quarrel

an arrow through my chest
shot from a quiver full of lies
oh, how the blasted time flies
carried on currents of shame
born from a bow carved in blame,
but though time’s sand is piled high
it cannot cruel betrayal put to rest

“born from a bow carved in blame”

Oh, I just love this line! So powerful.

I really like the rhyme scheme in this one and also the alliteration, particularly “born from a bow carved in blame”

Oh… if there only be from the quiver of passion instead… bring Cupid back

I like the description in this line: “but though time’s sand is piled high”

We both wrote of Cupid, albeit we chose the opposite ends of the spectrum. I like youe Devil’s advocate approach; like suggesting that some angels can be dark.

lies and currents of shame, blame and cruel betrayal…..a quarrel with such dept of feeling in these word choices.

Some hurts don’t fade with time. I feel acute anguish here.

Great rhyme and message in the quadrille. Some quarrels are too deep to resolve.

…a quiver full of lies. Love that.
